The United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 CS

USMLE Step 2-CS assesses clinical skills and practices through a simulated patient interaction format. The patients are standardized patients who are simulating certain pathologies. These individuals are usually actors in their careers, and are usually very good at simulating disease entities and responding to questions. The USMLE Step 2-CS consists of 12 sections, each with an individual standardized patient where the examinee must take a history and perform a clinical physical examination on the standardized patient within 15 minutes. There are then 10 minutes for the completion of a patient note. The patient note is to list the findings from the history and physical examination, propose a differential diagnosis and listing of clinical tests you would order.
